Anchor Insurance supports university with computers

Anchor Insurance Plc has said that as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility to support education, it donated 20 desktop branded computers and printers to the National Open University of Nigeria.

This initiative, it said, was introduced in 2014 when the company celebrated its 25th anniversary and sponsored a secondary schools essay competition on awareness of insurance.

“Various prizes comprising computers, exercise books and cash gift were won by the contestants in the essay competition,” the company said in a statement.

It stated that the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Vincent Tenebe, who was represented by the Director, Learner Support Services, Dr. Fidel Okopi, received the desktop computers and printers.

While receiving the items, he appreciated the gesture, stating that Anchor Insurance was the first insurance company to donate such magnitude to the university and had written a new story in the history of the university since its inception.

He assured the company that, the items would be used judiciously towards the endowment drive initiative of the advancement unit of the university.

The Managing Director, Anchor Insurance, Mr. Mayowa Adeduro, re-affirmed the company’s commitment to the fulfillment of its corporate social responsibilities, especially in the area of education.

He stated that the donation was just a token to support the endowment drive of the university in its objective of producing high quality graduates to meet the nation’s work force requirement.
